“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.”
― Eckhart Tolle
Sometimes things need to change. This is one of those times.
I have decided to overhaul the look of my webpage, which means, for the meantime, that the page is unavailable, at least, for browsing through my novels. But what it does mean is a new colour/design scheme, and some awesome new header images, and a new set-up for samples of my novels.
I will be providing, via this site, just sample chapters of my novels, along with links to where the e-books &paperbacks can be purchased, as they become available.
However, do not worry! I have set up Extraordinary Part 1
as a free read via Wattpad. Please do not hesitate to go and have a read. Membership on Wattpad (required so that you can read the books online) is free of charge, and the books are free to read as well. The only payment I ask is that my readers please leave me feedback. Extraordinary Part 2
is currently being posted up on Wattpad, too; however, it is only being posted as I roll through my final edit. This means that the pages will only appear once I'm happy with them. And that will also mean that I can get on and prepare the e-books!My Wattpad pageMeanwhile... In Other News:
I have been busy in the social networking area. I have arranged to have an author page set up for my writing, via Independent Author Network (a.k.a. IAN).
This site utilises a lot of the social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc) and is also a one-stop-shop for all the links that Independent Authors have for their books! My IAN Page
I have also, finally, finalised all my Part 1 books: They can be found (for purchase) at these sites:E-books:Smashwords
(6" x 9" (15.24cm x 22.86cm) 450 pages ) $20.00Large Print
(7" x 10" (17.78cm x 25.4cm) 658 pages) $23.00
And, in the meantime, I have set up discount codes for the Paperbacks and for the Smashwords e-book (which is formatted for reading on Kindle (.mobi), iPad/iBooks, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo, and many other e-readers (.epub), PDF format, and many others).
The discount codes will bring the Paperbacks down by $5.00 per book (Standard will be $15, Large Print will be $18.00) and the e-book will drop from $2.99 to $0.99.
However, I will only be releasing the discount codes to those kind people who have provided feedback for me here on site, via Wattpad, or through my other social media sites.
As far as feedback is concerned, I don't mind what you say, as long as it is kept clean, and is constructive (i.e. it helps me write better!) If there is something you don't like, please let me know. If there is something you love, I want to hear about it! Feel free to say what you think. And also, don't feel you have
to read the entire books online. Just leave me feedback about what you have read, and I'll be happy.
I am looking forward to my improved site being opened to the public shortly.
Thank you for bearing with me!
“I'm unpredictable, I never know where I'm going until I get there, I'm so random, I'm always growing, learning, changing, I'm never the same person twice. But one thing you can be sure of about me; is I will always do exactly what I want to do.”

I am super-stoked to announce that Extraordinary Part 1 is now live on Amazon. I have posted links to it on the Novels Page and also throughout the book here on the site (at the bottom of every 5th chapter or so).
The link will direct you to Amazon.com's listing. However, if you are outside of their region (ie UK, Japan, Italy, France etc, then Amazon has different pages for the other regions, and the book code is the same for each page: B00A4SGRGY
However, if you go to Amazon.com, via the link it will give you the option near the top of the page to be redirected to the correct region for your country and will redirect you to where my book is on those pages. Nice and Easy!
In other news, I have been frantically working away at Extraordinary Part 2.
I learned a lot about all the little things I wanted via editing Part 1, so I'm now working on getting all the edits rolled into one, fixing everything on my way through instead of going through multiple times and fixing one thing at a time (i.e removing "stray" commas, getting rid of contractions in narrations, ensuring that my punctuation and plurals are set up correctly - to name but a few!) I think this one will take less time than the last to get right, but now I know what I'm looking for it does help!
However, I have updated the online chapters 1 - 9 of Part 2, and once I've updated Chapters 10, 11 and 12, I'll be putting up 13 and carrying on from there.
My aim (though this might be a bit too out-there) is to try to have Part 2 released for Christmas/New Years. Unless the world ends first.
So thank you for your patience, all of those who are hanging out for the next chapter. I promise you it is coming, and there are many more books in the series to come too. Lots of stories in my head too, so I'm sure I'll be keeping this site up and running for a good long time yet, all going well.
I have been busy over the last few days making decisions, editing manuscripts, writing some new stuff and doing research into e-publication.
I have been to-ing and fro-ing over the next book to post. I was trying to choose between Extraordinary Part 2 and The Secrets We Keep Part 1.
Extraordinary Part 2 is of course the second half to the already posted novel on this site. The Secrets We Keep Part 1 is the same story told from Alex's perspective, which does provide some insight into his thoughts and motives for doing what he does. His story runs in parallel with Cassie's, however it does have some spoilers - including some plot lines and information that don't come up in Cassie's story until near the end of Extraordinary Part 2.
I have decided, based on that point alone, to post Extraordinary Part 2 as the next Novel-In-Progress on the site. The Secrets We Keep was written in such a way that it is actually designed to read after Extraordinary, however it can also stand alone and be read without Extraordinary having been read.
For those who are planning on skipping over a "retelling of the same old story" and not read The Secrets We Keep for fear of boredom, or repetitiveness, consider this:
I have written Extraordinary in such a way that there are certain "gaps" in Cassie's knowledge/ awareness of what is happening, that can only be filled in by reading The Secrets We Keep. It is not so obvious in the first book - mostly relating to Alex and Amaia, and how they interact, but it becomes more obvious in the second part that Extraordinary has information "missing" that can only be filled in by reading The Secrets We Keep .
I don't mean that Extraordinary is incomplete, or missing vital information, but there are certain things that happen, that the reader hopefully puts down to Alex's mysterious nature, which become a lot clearer and are covered in more detail than in Extraordinary.
I believe reading both books together (or one after the other) will leave the reader feeling as though they have been told the full story.
Both Extraordinary and The Secrets We Keep lead into Amaia's story: A Guardian's Love.
So keep an eye out on my blog for updates, and anyone who follows me on Twitter or "Likes" my Facebook Page, will receive further updates and be advised as soon as I start posting Extraordinary Part 2.
In the meantime, If you've read Extraordinary Part 1, please leave feedback, or comments in the various places around the site designed for that purpose. I have posted my novel here in order to receive feedback, so don't be shy. If there is anything that is unclear, or that I've missed, please let me know.
Also if there is anything about the layout of the site that you think could be improved, let me know.
Anything that improves the story, or the website, I'm happy to consider and attempt to implement. Plus, I love to hear from my readers.
Yesterday, I posted Chapter 40 - Frightening Times. In this Chapter, Jennabeth arrives with the news that Cassie and the Graysons have been dreading - the Craevyrn are on their way.
But don't worry, Chapter 41 - Last Minute Preparations (and the last chapter in this part of the Extrarordinary story) which I have just now posted, reveals some new vampire and Star Kin friends, who have rallied around the Graysons to help.
And, my reader friends, don't panic... Part 2
is definitely on the way. I have written it, but I just need to do as I have done with this part of the book, and run in through a hard edit, then do a chapter by chapter fine edit to iron out any wrinkles, then I'll be posting it up here as well.
In the meantime, I have also been working on some ideas for book covers for the Part 1 story. I've come up with a couple of concepts, which I will post up here over the next few days. In the meantime, they are up on my personal Facebook site, which you can find here: Evie's Facebook.
Now I have a favour to ask: I know I post requests for feedback ALL the time, and I"m sure you've heard enough of that, but I am going to request it once more, from those who have completed the first part of the story. Please leave feedback in any of the following places:
1. On the Table of Contents page - you have the choice between answering my poll question or leaving a slightly more detailed response in the Comment field there; or
2. On the Comments/Feedback page - again a Comment field, however if you leave feedback, I will post it up on the page for you to see. With the Comment fields,, it does request an email address - if you leave one, I will send you a quick message back.
3. On this blog you can click the "comment" option and leave a quick note there.
If you leave any questions, they may end up in my "Q&A Spot" here on my blog with my (probably) longwinded answer. So feel free to ask anything you like.
If you do not wish your comment to be made "public" on my site, just say so in the comment field, when you leave the feedback, and I won't post it up.
I would love to hear from you!
Today I was pondering the fact that I'm nearly at the end of posting my first novel on this site. That is a massive achievement for me, since I've never published anything before, though I have written a lot. So feeling quite surprised at myself, and pleased at the same time.
So this brings me to the question now playing through my mind: What next?
As I have mentioned, Extraordinary is a two-part book. The second part will be coming soon, though I still have to take it through a hard edit from the initial manuscript I prepared, before I can look at putting it up here.
In the meantime, as I've been editing Extraordinary, I have also been editing Alex's parallel story, to keep things gelling between the two characters and their portrayals of their points of view of the same story.
The Secrets We Keep a.k.a. "Alex's Story" is coming along well, and I'm wondering whether I should post it up here too. Admittedly, I had designed it to be read after the complete Extraordinary story had been completed. There are two fairly big plot twists that play out in The Secrets We Keep which are only revealed to Cassie late in the Extraordinary story. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. However, on its own, it is a good read (in my own humble opinion).
The other option is for you, my readers, to wait a bit for me to get the first few chapters of Extraordinary Part 2 up-to-date and ready-to-post.
What should I do?
Leave your comments on this blog post, letting me know what you'd like.
In the meantime, I am also looking for a graphic designer/artist to help me prepare my cover imagery for Extraordinary Part 1. If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please let me know.
I am also not 100% sure what my cover should have on it. Should I keep it basic, just some images that relate to the story? i.e. Stars and staffs and dogs? Or should I pick a scene and have that used instead? i.e. like the image on the Table of Contents page and the header of each page of the story, (which is based on Cassie and Alex's date - if you hadn't picked up on that).
Ahh, decisions, decisions, decisions! Your input would be appreciated. What would make YOU want to pick up and read this book?
Updated my status on Facebook and Twitter to read: "No editing done today, but finally got some stuff down on virtual paper that I'd been wanting to for ages. Ideas and concepts for future books and to expand on current ones."
So I had several draft manuscripts open on my screen, putting notes in for things for me to think about/add to my stories... such as:
- Adding to Amaia's story, A Guardian's Love, the concept of a discussion where the vampires get told what they really are. Yes, they call themselves "vampires" but as Alex said when he told Cassie about himself "we've been known by many names over the years..." I always had an idea in mind for my "vampires-who-aren't-really-vampires" but I don't want to give too much away here. Suffice to say, they're also not angels, though they appear angelic when the sunlight hits them. Hint: It has something to do with the sun, and the stars...
- Working on the next Alex/Cassie novel, The Star Effect. Another character is set to make an appearance later in Extraordinary, who will also be involved in this novel. I have drafted it being written from all three character's point-of-view (P.O.V.). It is not really as confusing as that sounds. What I was working on today was ideas for how to tell a certain part of the story, where none of the main characters are present to tell that part of the story. I have decided to, for just a small part of it, add a fourth character P.O.V. to fill in the blanks. However, which character? I finally came to a decision (I think) and I hope it will work out. The only way to tell is to write!
I am hoping that I get to a point with Extraordinary
where it can actually be published, whether through traditional routes or through the newer "e-publishing" route. I'm still a little undecided. The current poll on my Table of Contents page is just that - should I get this book e-published? If you have an opinion, please choose one of the options and let me know.
Still need some feedback, too. If this site doesn't provide the feedback that I've essentially created it to do, then I might have to look at other options. That would mean taking the site down, and the books would no longer be a free-read. I'd love to have at least one novel at any given time being published on here for feedback purposes... but I need the feedback to make it worth my while.
I'm about halfway through editing Chapter 38, which is the next chapter to be put up. Please, if you're reading the novel, or if you have an opinion on the site set-up, or if you think there is anything I could be doing differently, leave a comment and let me know. Also, if you have a question, please ask! I need more questions for my "Q & A Spot" on my blog.
Finally, if you know of any good websites where I can share my website, for more readers to discover, please tell me. Posting repeatedly on Facebook and Twitter doesn't seem to be getting me very far, so far... Perhaps I need to give it more time?
I hope to hear from you soon.
I have succeeded in posting 2 chapters today:
Chapter 34 - Training. How will Alex help Cassie deal with her fear of falling, and fighting while Astra is in flight? Will Cassie ever be able to fight?
Chapter 35 - Lady Jennabeth's Warning. This chapter finally introduces Lady Jennabeth Goldenrod, the Head Star Kin. She is definitely nothing like what Cassie expected. She has a message for the Graysons, which may spell the end of everything that Alex holds dear.
Did you say.... "Cliffhanger Ending"??!!
I only have 5 chapters left to post in this particular book, however the story is far from over. Hence, I am posting a bit of a "heads-up" about the story. There WILL be a cliffhanger ending... but fear not, the story does continue in Extraordinary Part 2.
I had a hard time choosing where to split the story. I had initially split it further into Part 2, however one of my initial readers advised that the point I had chosen to use to split the story could leave the reader feeling a bit depressed (due to a difficult decision that is made, though for good reason, between the main characters) and possibly like they wouldn't want to continue reading. That, of course, is not my intention at all. I want my readers to want to pick up the next book and to want to finish the story.
So I moved the split point to an earlier moment in the story. It is a moment that hopefully leaves my readers hanging out for more, wanting to pick up and continue reading from where the story leaves off. It is a point that is hopeful, despite the threats that hang around the characters.
Believe me, what I have planned for Part 2 is so much more: More drama, more of the Craevyrn causing issues, more of Alex and Cassie discovering just what they mean to each other, and the life that Alex leads. I think of Part 2 as a slightly darker book, with slightly more adult themes than this one, but I believe it is necessary for Cassie to face the decisions she has to make, in order for her to grow as a character, finding her strengths, and her weaknesses, and learning to deal with those. Many more twists, turns, and mysteries to discover lie ahead!
Welcome to July everyone!
Random start, I know! However a new month means some new ideas!
Firstly, in relation to the novel, Extraordinary, I have now posted up Chapter 33 - Cassie's party. Cassie gets her surprise party, and is surprised by how many turned up. This girl is obviously loved by many. I think this is one of the more heartwarming chapters in this book.
In relation to the site, I have altered the Homepage slightly, and put up my Comments/Feedback page, which has a further place to leave, surprisingly enough, Comments and/or Feedback. Please don't be shy! I want to hear from those who are checking out my online novels, and would love to get some feedback, and comments, and... questions.
Yes, you read that right.
I want Questions!
I have decided that I will be opening up a Question & Answers part to my blog. If I get asked a question about my novels, or me personally, or the writing/editing/publishing process, either through the site, or in my everyday life, I will post it here and answer it.
So shoot me those questions, guys! I want to know what you want to know, so that I can answer!
Ask me about my characters, my settings, my plans for future books, or anything else you can think of, and I'll do my best to give an answer. Of course, if you want, you could ask me a question that I probably don't know the answer to (anything relating to physics, for example... or magnets...) and see what I say.
I have been asked a question already, which I'll cover in my next blog post, so you get the idea of what I'm aiming for. Any future blogs relating to the Questions and Answers, will be able to be found via the "Q&A" filter on the sidebar.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Today I have posted another two chapters, in addition to the two I posted yesterday (or early this morning according to my clock!)
Chapter 26 - Frightening Expectations and Chapter 27 - Amaia's Story
In Chapter 26, Cassie is told about the Grayson's enemy - The Craevyrn. Her reaction to all the secrets so far has been reasonably calm, but after seeing Astra's true form will Cassie's reaction to hearing about their enemy be as calm?
In Chapter 27, Amaia tells Cassie about her entry into the Grayson family - how she coped, and the secrets she holds.
Amaia's story is set to be covered in more detail in a future book that I've drafted and started manuscripting.
Oh, and only 14 chapters to go until this novel is completely published on this site. I'm waiting for comments from my readers, just let me know what you think of what you've read so far, or better yet, click one of the buttons on the poll. I really am interested in feedback so that I can improve as a writer.
If you want to find out, read chapter 25!
I have finally posted Chapter 24 - Surprises and Chapter 25 - Explanations.
In Chapter 24, Cassie finally discovers Astra's secret, and more about this connection that Charlotte and Alex seem to think they have. It's there, alright! But how will Cassie react when she sees Astra in a way she never expects?
In Chapter 25, Alex finally gives Cassie the explanations he has been promising her. Cassie discovers she is more to the Graysons than simply Alex's girlfriend. But is she ready to face the responsibilities that come with her position? And now she knows what she is, is she prepared to find out what she is meant to do?
Coming soon: Chapter 26 - Frightening Expectations
Cassie finds out about the Grayson's enemy. Will everything she's been told prove too much for her to handle?
I hope you are enjoying the story so far. Please post your feedback, I'd love to know what my reader's think, good or bad.
Links to Evie: There are links to my Twitter profile, my Facebook profile, and my LinkedIn account at the top of every page. Feel free to add/friend request me.
Comments Please: There is a feedback/comments form on my Table of Contents page, as well as comment links at the bottom of each blog entry. Please do let me know what you think!
Poll: If you're too shy to comment, then feel free to leave your quick opinion on my poll. The poll is also on the Table of Contents page. The current question is whether I should sell this book as an e-book. Once i start getting responses, I will change up the question from time to time.
I look forward to hearing from you.
