“Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.”
― Eckhart Tolle

Sometimes things need to change.  This is one of those times.

I have decided to overhaul the look of my webpage, which means, for the meantime, that the page is unavailable, at least, for browsing through my novels.  But what it does mean is a new colour/design scheme, and some awesome new header images, and a new set-up for samples of my novels.

I will be providing, via this site, just sample chapters of my novels, along with links to where the e-books &paperbacks can be purchased, as they become available.

However, do not worry!  I have set up Extraordinary Part 1 as a free read via Wattpad.   Please do not hesitate to go and have a read.   Membership on Wattpad (required so that you can read the books online) is free of charge, and the books are free to read as well.   The only payment I ask is that my readers please leave me feedback.

Extraordinary Part 2 is currently being posted up on Wattpad, too; however, it is only being posted as I roll through my final edit.  This means that the pages will only appear once I'm happy with them.  And that will also mean that I can get on and prepare the e-books!

My Wattpad page

Meanwhile... In Other News:

I have been busy in the social networking area.   I have arranged to have an author page set up for my writing, via Independent Author Network (a.k.a. IAN).  This site utilises a lot of the social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc) and is also a one-stop-shop for all the links that Independent Authors have for their books!

My IAN Page
I have also, finally, finalised all my Part 1 books:  They can be found (for purchase) at these sites:
Smashwords  US$2.99
Amazon  US$2.99

Standard (6" x 9" (15.24cm x 22.86cm) 450 pages )  $20.00
Large Print (7" x 10" (17.78cm x 25.4cm) 658 pages)  $23.00

And, in the meantime, I have set up discount codes for the Paperbacks and for the Smashwords e-book (which is formatted for reading on Kindle (.mobi), iPad/iBooks, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo, and many other e-readers (.epub), PDF format, and many others).

The discount codes will bring the Paperbacks down by $5.00 per book (Standard will be $15, Large Print will be $18.00) and the e-book will drop from $2.99 to $0.99.
However, I will only be releasing the discount codes to those kind people who have provided feedback for me here on site, via Wattpad, or through my other social media sites.

As far as feedback is concerned, I don't mind what you say, as long as it is kept clean, and is constructive (i.e. it helps me write better!)  If there is something you don't like, please let me know.  If there is something you love, I want to hear about it!  Feel free to say what you think.  And also, don't feel you have to read the entire books online.  Just leave me feedback about what you have read, and I'll be happy.

I am looking forward to my improved site being opened to the public shortly.

Thank you for bearing with me!

Happy New Year everyone!  Welcome to 2013.

I have been a very busy girl, travelling up and down the country, visiting friends and family, all while editing the rest of Extraordinary Part 2.

I am very pleased to announce that the complete Extraordinary story is now live on site.   I am preparing the e-books for release via Amazon and Smashwords.

I am also considering posting a a discount code for my readers here so that you can purchase the two e-books together for a very good price.

Also, I am very close to having Extraordinary Part 1 available in paperback via Amazon CreateSpace.   I will post the link to that once it is ready.

In the meantime, please leave feedback on the site here, letting me know what you think of the story so far.   Feedback can be left through my Comments page, or through the comments boxes on each of the Table of Contents pages.  You can even leave comments here on the blog!

If you don't want to leave any comments, then please complete the survey set out on the Comments page.   However, I am looking for feedback to post up on site!   Good, bad or otherwise :)

Also, you can follow me on Twitter and Pinterest (where I have posted some images relating to stuff set out in the story) or join my circle of friends on Google+, keep an eye on me on LinkedIn, or Like my page on Facebook.  Links to all of those are up on the top of each page.  Just click the appropriate icon, then it will send you to my pages, where you can Like/Follow/Friend to your heart's content.

I'd also love some questions for my Q & A Spot here on my blog, so if you have any questions, whether about my books, my characters, or me personally, then please ask!

I really look forward to hearing from you.

Over the last week-and-a-half  I have posted, even by my standard, an unprecedented number of chapters.  Over the weekend I posted three chapters in two days and in the days prior to that I was posting a chapter a day.

I guess that my enthusiasm does have a cause... I am very excited about where Part 2 is going.
If you've been following as I've been posting, you will have seen Cassie is going through some major issues, which for the average teenager may not seem as huge as they do to her.  However, Cassie is naturally easily frightened and also rather cautious.  She worries about those around her and is determined to protect them, no matter the cost.  If that means hiding from her mother the true nature of the Grayson Family, the true nature of Cassie's destiny and the secrets that she carries, then Cassie will do that.

But what will Cassie do when she is faced with a member of the Craevyrn army - who also turns out to be her terrifying enemy from her childhood?

Yes, we get to meet Mallory... and discover a side to Cassie that is stronger than Cassie has ever given herself credit for.   In Chapter 20 - Cassie's Fight, the tables definitely start to turn.  Cassie discovers that she is capable of being the defender, the guardian and the fighter that Alex has been training her to be.  But at what cost?  Can Cassie live with the decisions that fate forces her to make?  Can she deal with the remorse that is soon to follow on the heels of her actions?

In Chapter 21 - The Things We Do For Love,  Cassie has to face Alex's anger at her decisions.   However, love wins over anger and Alex has to rapidly help her face a new issue - the craving for blood that comes with one of the secrets that she carries.  Just how will Alex and Cassie deal with this?

Stay tuned (is that the correct phrase to use?).  Cassie has a long way to go and lots of surprises to discover yet...

Oh, and if you're still reading, congratulations.  You're now halfway through this book and three-quarters of the way through Cassie's Extraordinary story.   It is only going to get more intense from here on in!

In the meantime, please feel free to Like my Facebook Page, or follow my Twitter feed (links at the very very top of the page!)   Also, feedback is appreciated, good or bad, so feel free to leave some, either here, or on one of the forms found around the site, or through FB or Twitter!   I hope to hear from you!

Also, don't forget that Extraordinary Part 1 is now available as an ebook.  To buy a copy, head to "The Novels" page and the links to the sites are listed just below the synopsis for Part 1.

Via Twitter, I was asked the following question by Kelly (@lavuedici):

Q:  "Where do you find the motivation?"

A:  Motivation comes from a number of places, and depends on the situation.  If, as I suspect, we are talking about the motivation to write, and to continue writing, my motivation for that comes from a couple of places.

Firstly:  Trying something new a.k.a. Experimenting.
This was a project of sorts that I started, that I now want to see through to its completion - no matter how many years that may take!  I give myself a lot of grief sometimes, due to my personal high standards.  I had started out doing this just as a means to test myself, to see what I was capable of.  I surprised myself, and now wish to see how far I can take it.  Will I end up turning all of the drafts I have typed into full novel-length manuscripts?  I don't know.  What I do know is that as long as I am enjoying it, I will keep doing it!

That brings me to my second motivation:  Enjoyment
So many people spend their lives doing things that they feel they have to do, in order to afford to do the things that they like to do.  I have to say I have done that myself.  Spent hours working hard, just to pay the bills.
Then I discovered that writing was something cheap and cheerful, yet something which really appealed to me.  I found it fun!   I had discovered a method of "seeing the world" in a way I never had before.  I had to research and used Google Earth to explore the areas where my characters live, where they travel, what they do.  It really opened my eyes and costs next to nothing!    What keeps me coming back to work on my books is the adventure of actually telling a story, creating characters and their backgrounds, lives, motivations and reactions.  I love starting with an idea for a person, a scenario or a place, and then building it up until it's almost real to me.   I also hope that others will get enjoyment out of reading the story I have created.  Of course, when I've worked so hard on a creation like that, I really don't want to leave it alone.  I want to perfect it  - that is my high standards coming into play again!

Mostly, I think of my writing like an art-form.  I'm only going to get better if I practise!  I happen to enjoy practising my art, and really - if you love doing something, why stop?

Wow, have I been busy!

I have just now posted the next chapter in Extraordinary Part 2:  Chapter 11 - The Other Side of Joy - Is Fear.

Waking in Alex's arms should spell the start of a wonderful day for Cassie.  Well, this is Cassie we are talking about.  Trouble seems to follow her, and this day is no different.  What starts as a day of amazing dreams, and pure happiness, will soon lead to a frightening encounter, and some terrifying events.

I've been a bit slack in posting the newer chapters, because I have been so busy completing my final edits and reposts of Extraordinary Part 1.  I'm almost halfway through.  I am surprised it's taking so long, but I guess now I'm down the itty-bitty-gritty details, that seem to take forever to complete.  I'm happy with the storyline, happy with the conversations lining up with the same conversations in The Secrets We Keep (which I am editing at the same time, so that when it releases it doesn't take nearly as long!), and I'm happy with the small details in the book.

When I say the itty-bitty-gritty details, I'm talking about sentence structure, and grammar, and placement of full-stops and commas and semi-colons.  I'm also formatting (which in itself is not too difficult) but it means keeping an eye on the number of spaces, ensuring there are no funny characters or funny formatting styles making an appearance in my ebook (Smashwords) manuscript.  Yes, it's really really boring, but someone's got to do it!

On the other hand, I've posted 3 re-edited chapters, plus a new one for Part 2, since Friday night.  I'm pretty happy with that.  If I keep this up, I'll have a ready-to-go manuscript by mid October.  I'm aiming for the end of October, so that means there are allowances for any issues.

Now, its time for me to post yet another request for feedback.  If anyone has completed reading Part 1 (and yes I know its not the complete story, as Part 2 will finalise the story) I would really really appreciate getting some feedback, even if its to point out a misplaced comma!!  On the other hand, if you are not into giving detailed feedback, then feel free to use the comments form on the Comments Page, or the survey form/feedback form on the Extraordinary Part 1 Table of Contents Page.   There are only a couple of quick questions on the survey and I'd love to hear back from my readers.  And, as always, if you leave me a feedback comment, I will post it on the Comments page (unless you request otherwise, of course!)

Otherwise, those who are interested can "Follow" me on Twitter, or "Like" my Facebook Page... links to those pages are at the very top of every page on this site.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Everyone who works in a creative-type job, or has a creative-type hobby, needs it, or has it.

For me, it usually comes in flashes.   An image of a place, a snippet of a conversation (whether real or imagined), or a verse in a song will suddenly make the wheels in my brain turn.   I'll jump onto my laptop, and start to write.

And boy, sometimes I can WRITE!!   I'll start tapping away, and next thing I know, its six hours later, my whole day is gone, but I've written several thousand words.   Then I sleep on it.

Sometimes, its good.  Other times, I cringe, thinking, "Why on earth did I write THAT?"
The delete key is a good friend of mine.

I used to wonder how writers came up with storylines, how they created their characters, how they visualised a place, or time, and then put it down in such a way that I could "see" it when I read.   Sometimes even reading my stories, when a character has found themselves in a certain situation, I'll be reading, and laughing, and wondering how on earth I came up with it.   I mean, its often not something I could easily imagine, even if I tried.  In those circumstances I only have one word to describe what happened to cause it:

With this in mind, I've created another page here on the site, called "Evie's Inspiration".   I've put a few bits and pieces on it, lyrics from songs that inspire me and quotes that I've heard that get me thinking, and have moved me.

Now, I want to know what inspires others.   Let me know!

In other news, the writer's block was short lived (YAY!) and I've posted Chapter 4 - Alone over the weekend, and am about to post Chapter 5 - Reawakening.

If you've finished reading Extraordinary Part 1, please let me know what you think.  I would love to receive some feedback about it.

Also, feel free to follow me on Twitter, or Like my Facebook page - links are at the top of every page!

Okay, so anyone who has read my story will know that Cassie suffers from strange dreams, as part of her Oracle gift...  But now it's my turn!  I don't often dream much to do with my books, and they're not often something I remember 12 hours after the fact.

However,  in amongst everything else weird I usually dream (lately: food dreams anyone?? Making me hungry!!) I had the most bizarre dream that I was back in high school.

I was at the school library, looking for books on drawing dragons.  That in itself isn't so weird, since I have actually been looking for books like that to help with some concepts images for my Astra character.
Anyway, in my dream I found such a book.  It was awesome, since it had an image of a Black Labrador (!!) and the section description was "Drawing dragons using a dog as a base form".

Too perfect, right??

Anyway I went to the librarian to borrow it, and found out I had no library card.  So I got an application, filled it in, and gave it to her.  Then she told me that the book was not able to be released to me "because it is in it's holding phase, which all new books go through."

I thought, "Well, okay.  Whatever their rules are, it's TOTALLY worth the wait."

They boxed the book up with a whole lot of other books in a massive box, and taped it up.  They told me that the book was registered against my name, and once it was released from "holding" I could have it.

I was just about to ask them how long I'd be waiting, when I woke up!  HOW FRUSTRATING!

Yes, I know it was just a dream!    It was definitely one of those dreams that Cassie describes as "one where you want to go back into it to finish it".

Perhaps, maybe there is a book out there like what I'm looking for.   Or perhaps someone way more artistic than I am would be able to draft up some concepts for me?    I have images in my head that want to get out!

Okay, enough of my waffling about my crazy dreams!

In other news, I spent my lunch hour today looking at my Smashwords format manuscript of Extraordinary Part 1.  I'd made some changes as I formatted it, so was comparing it to the original manuscript to make sure the changes got transferred.  After about ten minutes of side-by-side comparison, I started editing some more.   Just small tweaks to the original (and therefore the Smashwords one) but it is now slightly different to the online version I've posted on here.   Therefore, once I've finished each chapter, I'll be posting the further edited versions online, replacing the chapters that are there.  They aren't TOO different, so you won't have lost out if you don't re-read them.  I am just hopeful that the changes mean the story runs smoother (every writer's dream - and by that I mean mine!) and is even more enjoyable.

In the meantime, please share my story, "Like" my Facebook Page, Follow me on Twitter, and let me know what you think, good, bad or otherwise,

Also, please feel free to comment leaving questions for my "Q&A Spot" here on my blog.  I need questions to answer please!

Can't wait to hear from you!

Hello Readers!

I have been busy over the last few days making decisions, editing manuscripts, writing some new stuff and doing research into e-publication.

I have been to-ing and fro-ing over the next book to post.  I was trying to choose between Extraordinary Part 2 and The Secrets We Keep Part 1.

Extraordinary Part 2  is of course the second half to the already posted novel on this site.  The Secrets We Keep Part 1 is the same story told from Alex's perspective, which does provide some insight into his thoughts and motives for doing what he does.  His story runs in parallel with Cassie's, however it does have some spoilers - including some plot lines and information that don't come up in Cassie's story until near the end of Extraordinary Part 2.

I have decided, based on that point alone, to post Extraordinary Part 2 as the next Novel-In-Progress on the site.  The Secrets We Keep was written in such a way that it is actually designed to read after Extraordinary, however it can also stand alone and be read without Extraordinary having been read.

For those who are planning on skipping over a "retelling of the same old story" and not read The Secrets We Keep for fear of boredom, or repetitiveness, consider this:

I have written Extraordinary in such a way that there are certain "gaps" in Cassie's knowledge/ awareness of what is happening, that can only be filled in by reading The Secrets We Keep.  It is not so obvious in the first book - mostly relating to Alex and Amaia, and how they interact,  but it becomes more obvious in the second part that Extraordinary has information "missing" that can only be filled in by reading The Secrets We Keep .

I don't mean that Extraordinary is incomplete, or missing vital information, but there are certain things that happen, that the reader hopefully puts down to Alex's mysterious nature, which become a lot clearer and are covered in more detail than in Extraordinary.

I believe reading both books together (or one after the other) will leave the reader feeling as though they have been told the full story.

Both Extraordinary and The Secrets We Keep  lead into Amaia's story:  A Guardian's Love.

So keep an eye out on my blog for updates, and anyone who follows me on Twitter or "Likes" my Facebook Page, will receive further updates and be advised as soon as I start posting Extraordinary Part 2.

In the meantime, If you've read Extraordinary Part 1, please leave feedback, or comments in the various places around the site designed for that purpose.  I have posted my novel here in order to receive feedback, so don't be shy.  If there is anything that is unclear, or that I've missed, please let me know.

Also if there is anything about the layout of the site that you think could be improved, let me know.

Anything that improves the story, or the website, I'm happy to consider and attempt to implement.   Plus, I love to hear from my readers.

Yesterday, I posted Chapter 40 - Frightening Times.  In this Chapter, Jennabeth arrives with the news that Cassie and the Graysons have been dreading - the Craevyrn are on their way.

But don't worry, Chapter 41 - Last Minute Preparations (and the last chapter in this part of the Extrarordinary story) which I have just now posted, reveals some new vampire and Star Kin friends, who have rallied around the Graysons to help.

And, my reader friends, don't panic... Part 2 is definitely on the way.  I have written it, but I just need to do as I have done with this part of the book, and run in through a hard edit, then do a chapter by chapter fine edit to iron out any wrinkles, then I'll be posting it up here as well.

In the meantime, I have also been working on some ideas for book covers for the Part 1 story.  I've come up with a couple of concepts, which I will post up here over the next few days.  In the meantime, they are up on my personal Facebook site, which you can find here:  Evie's Facebook.

Now I have a favour to ask:  I know I post requests for feedback ALL the time, and I"m sure you've heard enough of that, but I am going to request it once more, from those who have completed the first part of the story.  Please leave feedback in any of the following places:

1.  On the Table of Contents page -  you have the choice between answering my poll question or leaving a slightly  more detailed response in the Comment field there; or

2.   On the Comments/Feedback page - again a Comment field, however if you leave feedback, I will post it up on the page for you to see.  With the Comment fields,, it does request an email address - if you leave one, I will send you a quick message back.

3.   On this blog you can click the "comment" option and leave a quick note there.

If you leave any questions, they may end up in my "Q&A Spot" here on my blog with my (probably) longwinded answer.   So feel free to ask anything you like.

If you do not wish your comment to be made "public" on my site, just say so in the comment field, when you leave the feedback, and I won't post it up.

I would love to hear from you!

Just a quick note to say I've now set up a Facebook Page (as opposed to my Facebook Profile).  Feel free to go to:https://www.facebook.com/StarKinChronicles
and hit the "Like" button.   I'll update on progress on the online novel, as well as its availability as an e-Publication for your e-readers, iPads and Kindles.   I'll also keep you updated about future book releases both on here and through e-Publication.

I've also changed my Facebook link at the top of the page to direct you to the new Facebook page.
